Thursday Mini-Conference

Those new to homeschooling or considering homeschooling are invited to join us for a free pre-convention mini-conference sponsored by Demme Learning Thursday, June 19, 2:00-5:00 p.m., at the John S. Knight Center, 77 East Mill Street, Akron, OH.

This is a great opportunity for those new to homeschooling or those considering homeschooling. If you know someone who is thinking about homeschooling or is new to homeschooling, please share this opportunity with them. (Considering Homeschooling Flyer) We’d love to have them join us! We will present three sessions designed specifically for those who are considering educating their children at home:

Getting Started - Jen Gorton
We’ll cover foundational things you need to know as you embark upon this journey of home education from basic supplies to have on hand to what’s required by Ohio law and how to file your notification of intent to homeschool. We’ll talk about creating a schedule that works for your family, the benefits of joining a local homeschool group, and how to balance extracurricular activities.

Let’s Get to the Heart – Sandra Allen Lovelace
Academics is a large part of homeschooling and so it should be. But what about the portion of our children’s lives that God is watching? 1 Samuel 16:7 says it’s the heart. Join Sandra Allen Lovelace as she leads us into the heart of homeschooling and adds a twist of academics.

How to Really Answer the “Why?” Question - Sandra Allen Lovelace
Homeschooling is not for the faint of heart. Whether for yourself or those who may challenge you, it will be best to have a firm foundation to support your design. Sandra will offer biblical guideposts, education principles, and practical suggestions for the building process.

This pre-convention mini-conference is free of charge. While not necessary, an RSVP would be helpful in our planning.  Please RSVP to Jen at by June 15 if possible.  If you miss that date, no worries.  Come anyway and learn!
